Kigwedeni Villas

We extended our stay at Kigwedeni Villas because we felt so comfortable and welcome. Mr. Hussein was friendly, helpful and professional throughout, and booking directly and paying cash on arrival were both straightforward. Our spacious bungalow was spotless, with air conditioning, a great bed and a bathroom where everything worked well and the water pressure was good. We never noticed the electricity shortages Zanzibar can have, thanks to the villas’ generator. Breakfast was very good, and each day felt relaxed and easy. We’d happily return to this calm, dependable place in Nungwi.

Clean place, kind staff, and close to the beach. A great choice if you don’t want to spend 500€ a night.

The room was large and really nice, especially the two-person bath, and the bar staff and drinks were lovely. But the meals left a bad impression. My mum was ignored during about three meals when she tried to get the freshly cooked meat. It seemed deliberate, and we had to wait a long time before she finally spoke up. We raised it with management, who handled our complaint well. We got a complimentary fruit basket, and the manager said he’d personally bring the meat to our table. He made a real effort to improve things, which is why I’ve given four stars, though I still wouldn’t return. We also felt the restaurant staff expected a tip at the end of our stay. On arrival, they insisted on copying our passports before letting us stay, which didn’t seem normal to us.

The beach is only a two-minute walk from these comfortable, clean bungalows, and they’re reasonably priced and well suited to families. Breakfast is included and good. The staff are helpful, accommodating and a bit shy 🤭. Mr. Husein and his son were perfect hosts, and even drove us to the bus station. We’ll definitely come back, and I highly recommend it 👌
