LUX Marijani Zanzibar Hotel

The pool, beach area, and well-kept rooms were all excellent, and most of our stay was lovely. The staff were welcoming, though some seemed a bit biased. At check-in, a sweet-talking receptionist promised us a few things that never came through, which is why I’d rate it four stars. Food was the main disappointment, especially the vegetarian choices. Eggplant showed up in all three courses every day, so it got monotonous. The chefs were good, though, and chef Desi especially went out of his way to make us good food. We’d still recommend the hotel to a friend.

The Jamaican chicken and prawns were incredible, and I’m already missing the food and this place. After nine nights here, we’ve never had such an unforgettable stay in Zanzibar, even though this was our fourth visit. The hospitality, staff, and meals made it feel like both an escape and a home away from home. We even adopted the resort cat, who’ll be flying home to join us in a month. This was life changing for us. Thank you, Moestafa, Haji, Nitesh, and everyone else. We’ll be back every year.

The evening show on the beach was a nice touch, and Martin, the maître d', deserves a special mention. He was brilliant and made everything easy, nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was excellent, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. A beautiful spot for a bit of rest and relaxation.

We also had a special, open interaction with the chefs, whose passion came through in every dish. The team is what really sets Lux Marijani Zanzibar apart: the staff were always smiling, attentive, respectful, and genuinely concerned with our well-being. We felt welcomed wholeheartedly rather than treated as tourists, and made some lovely friends among the employees. We spent Christmas here, and the whole stay, from our first contact to departure, was one of the best experiences of my life. The managers were involved, professional, and easy to talk to, and their sincere wish to make the experience impeccable showed in the details. The resort is elegant, carefully maintained, and balances discreet luxury with Zanzibar’s authentic spirit. Our spacious, clean rooms were thoughtfully arranged, while the shared spaces felt calm and harmonious. Lux Marijani is about more than comfort and high-end service. It’s also warmth, respect, and hospitality that makes you want to return. We left grateful, with wonderful memories and a place we’ll use as a standard of excellence. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable experience, not just a vacation.
