The grounds are exquisite, and the staff and service are amazing. The lodge has the feel of an old school hotel from the late 50s or early 60s, but with newer amenities and service that make you feel important. It’s a lovely oasis to rest after a long flight into Kilimanjaro Airport or after several days in the bush. I’m not sure I’d use it as a base for safari, but it’s a great place to catch your breath before heading to the lodges closer to the parks. I’d love to come back and spend three or four days just relaxing on the property. Highly recommend it.

After safari, we spent a night at Mount Meru Game Lodge before heading to the airport. The property has a manicured garden and a lovely setting with plenty of wildlife. Friendly, knowledgeable staff showed guests the buffalos, monkeys, and peacocks. There’s a pool to cool off in after exploring, and a cozy bonfire in the evening. Dinner was delicious, and the rooms were comfortable, though they don’t have AC. A perfect experience.

We stayed for 3 Days at Mt Meru Game Lodge at the end of our Safari, and I can’t speak highly enough of this tropical oasis in an otherwise rather parched landscape. The rooms were very clean and nicely renovated, and the food was excellent. The owners and all the restaurant and hotel staff were warm and helpful. After a medical incident, we were also impressed by the wheelchair accessibility. We’ll be back.

Watching monkeys play in the trees while we ate breakfast was truly magical. The place is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by nature. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the personal service was lovely. It felt like an authentic game lodge with a real sense of heritage. I’d recommend it whether you’re staying nearby or just travelling through.

We stayed at the Mount Meru Game Lodge as part of our organised trek to Mount Meru. The grounds were amazing to walk around, with resident animals to spot, especially the monkeys, my favourites. Thanks to Harry and Kim and all the staff, we had a really lovely stay, with fabulous food and comfortable beds. I’d highly recommend staying here to relax before or after your Tanzania adventure.
