Habari House

The room was beautiful and clean, with both a ceiling fan and AC. The place is central, just minutes on foot from Stone Town's center, the beach, diving centres, and restaurants and cafes, yet it stays quiet. But what really made it special were Lucy and Gi. They're generous, kind, and accommodating, and no request felt too big. They met everything with a smile and made me feel at ease thousands of miles from home. Calling it a home away from home doesn't capture it. I felt more at peace there than I do at home. I can't recommend it warmly or passionately enough.

I didn't stay at Habari House, but I went to Habari Café three times during my five days in Zanzibar. It was close to my hotel, and the Swahili-style dishes on the menu caught my eye. The food and drinks were tasty and satisfying, and I enjoyed learning more about Swahili culture through them. The atmosphere was what kept drawing me back: breezy, relaxed, colourful, whimsical, and beautifully decorated, with an island feel. I remember walking in and blurting, “Oh my goodness, this place is soooo nice!” The family who owns it were super welcoming and kind, and the staff were just as lovely. I'm sure the accommodation is just as delightful, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great food and accommodation experience in Stone Town. Gillead and Lucy, the local owners, are really sweet and helpful whenever you need information. Their place is a lovely spot to rest in busy little Stone Town, with a home-away-from-home feel. I especially liked the plush, hotel-grade x-large towns, the cotton robes, and the little sitting area for morning tea in the room. The bathroom was spacious and modern.

I loved the chats, tea gatherings, and all the little moments in between. The owners, Lucy, G.G, and Loloma, the star of the show, made it feel special. Fatma, Angela, Othman, Sulieman, and Isaac took such great care of me too. The whole team brought so much friendliness, attention to detail, and smiles. I was spoiled throughout my week-long solo stay, from delicious jackfruit pilau to adorable housekeeping decorations and all the support. The restaurant, rooms, and facilities were beautiful, inviting, cozy, and well maintained. The location was perfect, and it felt like the place to be in town, where you'll definitely make new friends. Truly a home away from home. I'll keep the memories close and look forward to visiting again. Thank you, Habari team!
