The downside was the sea itself. Seaweed washed up after a thunderstorm, and swimming there didn’t look appealing, though the good transport connections made it easy to get elsewhere. The complex is right on the shore of the third beach. A triple room with private facilities starts at 800 UAH. The grounds and shared kitchen were clean, rooms were regularly cleaned, and linens were changed every three days, with towels changed more often. There’s a barbecue area and gazebos in the courtyard, with a shop and cafe nearby. The amusement park is a 10-minute walk along the embankment. There’s no playground on the property, but there’s plenty for children to do at the third beach. I recommend it.

The restaurant deserves a mention too, with excellent food and gorgeous sea views. The Maxim Hotel sits right by the shore, with lovely sea views and evening sunsets. Our room was clean and attractive, and the mattresses and white sheets were great. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. I highly recommend it, you won’t regret it!

I was happy with my stay, and the staff deserve a special thank you. The complex is cleaned every day, and the hotel shop has a good selection. The restaurant cooks local fish nicely over an open fire. Most of the staff were friendly and ready to help as much as they could. Good value for the price.

The beach is small and gets very crowded early in the morning, which was a bit disappointing. There’s a pier nearby where people can swim in equally clear water, though. The courtyard and its gazebos are cozy, and the clear sea is just across from the hotel. I liked the room a lot: thoughtful decor, crisp white sheets and towels, and everything was spotless. The restaurant is delicious, and the sea view is stunning. I don’t usually return to the same place, but I’d gladly come back to the Maxim Hotel. Thanks to the staff for a lovely stay in Berdyansk.
