Rainbow House Hostel

It’s an okay hotel, though not one of the best.

The bridge is dead.

Nothing is available and nothing works. The place smells of fried food everywhere, seemingly because there are no extractor hoods in the kitchen. The receptionist is extremely rude, cuts you off, and won’t let you get a word in. She speaks in the tone of a Soviet teacher who’s never at her workplace and has to be tracked down. I highly recommend finding another hotel. It’s horrible, and I haven’t encountered service this awful in a long time.

The interior looked nice, and that was about the only thing I liked. Our suite for two cost more than 2,000 hryvnias, but the bedspread was dirty and so was the white bedding. There was just one soap and one towel in the shower, along with two pairs of slippers. The room was meant to be non-smoking, yet a glo cigarette was lying by the bedside table. There was dust on the paintings, and the windows had been left open. Since we checked in at night, the room was already full of mosquitoes. We spent the whole night running around and killing them ourselves, and left exhausted and covered in bites. How can this happen? 0 out of 10 for this “hotel,” especially at that price.
