Hotel Serpanok

From the balcony, if you look to the right, there’s a view of forested mountains under the clouds, and storks have nested on the neighboring building’s roof. The hotel is in a convenient spot in the city center, but the rooms need renovation, including the plumbing, and the cleanliness could be better. When we checked in, our room was missing towels and other basic items that should have been included. They brought them promptly after we asked. We stayed several days, and there was no housekeeping during our stay; rooms are cleaned only after checkout. The dining room is on the ground floor, so in the morning the whole hotel smells strongly of fried onions.

The room was clean, and the hotel looks lovely from outside, including the reception. It’s centrally located, and the staff were friendly. But the bathroom was in rough shape: mold in the arch and on the ceiling, a shower that drained poorly, and a broken shower attachment. I know this was a standard room, not a VIP one, but at 450 UAH, it didn’t feel worth the price.

Right in the center of Tyachiv, this is a good hotel for the price. The rooms are tidy and clean, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The receptionist was very friendly and did her best to explain things with the English she knew and some gestures. We checked into Hotel Serpanov in Tikhivi at about 5:15 p.m. during our 2017 cycling trip along the Tisza River, after riding our first leg of 84 km in 5 hours and 5 minutes. We celebrated with a Ukrainian beer, then went to the neighboring steakhouse for dinner. Later, in the attached café-bar, we ordered fried eggs, ham, white bread, and coffee with help from a very tall, young Russian who spoke English and had a basketball-player build. If you’re planning to cycle in Ukraine, you should know some Ukrainian or be good at using Google Translate.
