Formula Plus Motel

Things are simple here, and what matters most is how clients are treated. The service was nice, though the shower needs repair; fix that and everything would be okay. It depends on what you're looking for, too. If you're an oligarch, this probably isn't the place for you. 🫡

The food was decent and the Wi-Fi worked well, but the room wasn't very clean, and the linens and towels seemed worn. They don't provide toiletries like soap or shampoo. For the money it's average, and only a hostel is cheaper. I'd consider it if I just needed to stop overnight before getting back on the road.

I paid 440 UAH for a day after arriving at 5:30 a.m. Then, at 12:30 p.m., the manager came in and bluntly asked whether I was checking out or extending my stay. I was barely awake and didn't understand what she wanted, so I said I'd come to reception in an hour to sort it out. Once I was up, I checked the room and went to the toilet. The sight was awful: the water was brown like borax, and rusty water was coming from the tap. The bathroom and the room were both a mess. At reception, I asked the owner why no one had told me before check-in that six hours of sleep would cost me a full day's rate. She said the rules were in the room, that at 5:30 a.m. I should have read them, and that I could pay another 220 UAH for half a day or get out, because she didn't care about my problems. That's how the owner speaks to guests. The whole thing was crap. If you're looking for a Buddhist thrill, I highly recommend this hotel.

The worst part was the cold. It's January, and the room was no warmer than 15 degrees. I'd have paid 100 hryvnias more for a comfortable temperature. On top of that, the blanket had two burn marks, and the bed creaked so loudly that even turning over at night felt like it might wake someone. Before I checked in, the room smelled strongly of bleach.
