Kedem Hotel

Fair enough for what it costs.

There's a cafe and a shop right beside the hotel, which was handy. Our room was clean, and we got a warm welcome. We enjoyed staying here and would recommend it.

Breakfast was tasty, and the hotel has parking, an ATM, a shop, and room cleaning. The standard room for three was the biggest problem: with two single beds and a sofa, there was barely room to move around. It had no kitchen area, just a dressing table, a worn chair, TV, fridge, and a wardrobe with a door. The shower cubicle was so small it might fit a ten-year-old, and it was moldy. The shower and old mirror were yellowed and rusty. At night, insects came out from under the sink or toilet, apparently because of the damp. There wasn't even a hook for a towel or anywhere to put bathroom things. The hotel is a long way from the center, about 20-25 minutes by taxi. For this inverted price, you can find somewhere with better conditions, where the owners keep the interior updated and look after cleanliness.

The cafe downstairs was clean, tasty, and inexpensive, and you can order food to your room. There are grocery and hardware stores nearby, along with a hairdresser, pharmacy, ATM, and a shopping center not far away. But the rooms were horribly dirty, so I'll never go back. We rented two rooms while staying with friends, and neither seemed sanitary. The refrigerators were dirty, the handles greasy, the linens washed out, the windows moldy, and the curtains and everything around them filthy. There was a sewage smell from the broken sewer, and the shower faucet was so grimy I was afraid to touch it. I escaped to the cafe because staying in the room was unbearable. It was cold, and turning on the air conditioner to warm it did nothing. There was just one outlet in the bedroom, and the kettle was nauseatingly dirty. This all cost 1,300 UAH, and that awful smell didn't seem to bring the price down.
