GHOSTel Medieval Hostel

The bathrooms weren't always fully clean, though with so many guests I can see that the staff can't clean everything immediately. Still, I loved this hostel. It's close to the centre, the staff were really nice, and the medieval theme is great. During the winter holidays the common room was beautifully decorated and a lovely warm spot on cold days. The beds are very comfortable. I totally recommend it!

The guests are a big part of what makes this hostel special. You meet people, make friends, and end up having a much better experience than at other places in the city. The atmosphere is distinctive and welcoming, the rooms are warm and comfortable, and there's always hot water in the bathrooms. It's right by the city centre, and I'd recommend it to everyone from students to business travellers looking for a comfortable bed.

The only thing going for it now is the location. I stayed here two years ago and it felt sweet and unique. This time it just seemed like an awful dorm. The staff were the worst part. They came over from the cafe, drank all the coffee and tea, and played games. The kitchen was constantly dirty, the bathroom floor wet, the bin full, and empty bottles left in the living room. At reception, the girl couldn't find our booking and didn't even know about the 14-person room at the hostel where she worked. We weren't given all the bed sheets or any towels. The floor in the room creaked terribly, as did the bed, so moving around at night was hard.

The location is excellent, and the hostel is really clean. The kitchen is small, but lovely and better equipped than the ones in other hostels. The host is very nice; his English is limited, but communicating with him isn't a problem.
