A cockroach was staring at me from the nightstand when I opened my eyes in the night, and I had roommates like that too. For 800 hryvnias, this was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The entrance rug looked like it hadn’t been washed in generations of guests. The floor was filthy, there were no slippers, and my socks turned black within five minutes. The bed linen had hair and crumbs on it. The walls hadn’t been freshened up in years and were smeared with previous guests’ feces. The bathroom was disgusting. The toilet lid was broken, and the toilet had rusty stains and grime. It was gross to touch the lid, let alone the flush button. The shower was grimy, with stains of unknown origin on the walls and dried yellow stains on the floor. We were supposed to have two towels, but got one large and one small. I’d wanted to get off the train, wash up and sleep in a clean bed, but that didn’t happen. The power went out when we plugged in a charger. They asked what the big deal was, whether we were only staying overnight and why we needed to charge a phone. The one plus was the heated floor, which the manager asked us to give a “10” rating for. We didn’t want to make a scene late at night, and no one would have refunded our advance payment. They only take cash, which seems highly questionable. I think the tax office should look into this place.

The mattress was a bit too hard and uncomfortable, so I took off a star. Otherwise, it’s a good budget choice near the center. Our large double room had what we needed, including a kettle, fridge and towels. The location felt like being outside the city, but it’s only 5 minutes to the bus stop, or a 30-minute walk through the park to the very center.

After we showered, water was left on the bathroom floor. The administration later called and said we were supposedly flooding the first floor, though it seemed obvious to us that a pipe malfunction caused it, not anything we’d done. They still demanded money. When we suggested calling the police and making an official record, they immediately said there was no need. We left that same evening. We were put off from the first minutes: the room was dirty, there was no toilet paper, and only one towel for two guests. A cockroach was running around in the shower, which isn’t acceptable in terms of sanitation. Payment was cash only, which raised doubts for us about whether the place was official and whether it issued fiscal documents. We categorically don’t recommend this hotel because of the unsanitary conditions, lack of service and attempts to blame guests for its own technical problems.

The smell of feces and urine in the room was so strong it made my eyes sting. There was a thick mattress cover instead of a blanket, the outlets by the bed were taped shut, and there was one towel for two people. The mattress was in terrible shape, falling apart into fibers. This was the worst place of all. We took the money and didn’t check in, and had to find somewhere else to stay, which ruined all our plans for the day. I don’t recommend going there under any circumstances. Better to pay more than live like that.
