Soborniy Hostel

Tarik and his brother were so warm and generous, even sharing food they’d cooked with us. The location is perfect, too. The room could’ve been cleaner: the cups on the table were dusty, and there were used bottles under it. Apart from that, everything was good. I’d definitely stay again if I visit Lviv.

It’s right in the center, but feels like a place for locals. The kitchen is just a microwave and sink, and the toilet smelled so bad I didn’t even shower. The top bunk is really high, and climbing up feels risky. The windows stay shut, so the bedrooms smell too. It should’ve cost 90 UAH, but they charged 100 and didn’t explain why.

The price is fantastic, and the hostel has a lovely old interior with wooden floors, arches, and a big kitchen that opens onto a balcony. It was fairly clean, and the location is good, though traffic outside made it noisy. Finding the entrance was tricky, with hardly any signs or directions. We only got in thanks to a kind woman selling flowers outside the gate. The receptionist was incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. We arrived around 10 in the evening, and she opened the door looking like she didn’t want us there. She only said “Passport” and “Money” while checking us in. I thought maybe it was because we’d arrived late, but she was even ruder the next morning. She seemed to understand English but answered only in Ukrainian. I understand that people may not speak English, but she didn’t try to communicate at all and acted as if we were a huge nuisance. I’d still recommend the hostel for its location, interior, and great price. Hopefully other travelers get friendlier reception staff. Enjoy Lviv.

For this price, it’s hard to find a better place. The service is really good, and the people in charge are friendly. There’s a nice mix of people from all over the world here. You won’t regret staying.
