Getting to the sea took about 10 minutes, though the walk back up the steep hills in the heat was tiring. Nearby beaches include Laguna Beach, Inclusive, Caleton and Noir, where the cinema is out at sea. We chose to relax for free with a blanket and umbrella, but there are options for different budgets. Arcadia is four tram stops away. There aren't shops or pharmacies nearby, so you'd need to walk or take the tram three or four stops. Our room had a hair dryer, air grill, kettle, glasses, cups, plates, spoons and forks. We accidentally broke a glass, told the staff, and cleaned it up ourselves. The administrator and maid were kind about it and replaced the glasses, saying it was no problem. But as we were leaving, with our taxi due in two minutes, my husband was taking the suitcases out while I returned the keys. I was quietly told we owed 150 hryvnia for that broken glass. There was no price list for dishes, and nothing about this in the room. The hotel was clean, with disposable slippers, white linens and towels, and daily room cleaning. I'd read that towels and sheets were changed every other day, but that didn't happen for us. They cleaned, changed the foot towel and replaced the rubbish bag. I don't know if that's still the usual arrangement. We also arranged late checkout from a different room. My husband and I were holidaying in Odessa for the first time, and I had spent ages comparing reviews and prices before booking at the start of June. We hadn't travelled anywhere during the full-scale invasion, so I was really looking forward to it. I booked through Booking and checked reviews everywhere I could. The reviews looked great, as did the location on the map. You can arrive early or leave late for half the room price. I tried to arrange late checkout once I could buy train tickets, which under UZ rules was 20 days ahead. I wrote through Booking and got no reply that day. When I called the next day, the room had already been taken. I honestly checked that it was still free when I first wrote. The woman on the phone said she could send screenshots showing when it was booked, and explained she hadn't been working that day. Thankfully the owner, Vadim, sorted it out. All in all, we had a great holiday. I recommend the hotel and will probably stay here again next time.
