Life Hostel

The photos don't show what the place is really like. Everything felt old and poorly planned, and you could find somewhere more comfortable for the same price. We booked an eight-person women's dorm but were put in a tiny room with 15 beds, shared with men. My friend was given a pillowcase instead of a towel. The room doors had rattling glass and broken handles. The bathroom was covered in mold and mildew, and the shower trays leaked, leaving water everywhere. A disgusting place.

It's central and cheap, and the staff are polite. I’m not especially picky, so I managed, but the conditions aren’t great. The place was overcrowded, with too little space, and the shared shower setup was confusing. There's one toilet, and all three showers and the toilet can be occupied at once. After waking up in the morning, I just wanted to get out because it was so crowded. I wouldn't recommend it. You can get a better place for the same price.

The location is the only thing I liked: central, on a quiet street, and close to everything. The rest was a nightmare. I slept by the entrance, where the glass door rattled against the bed, and its handle was broken. The bathroom setup was awful. There's a separate tiny toilet where a large man would barely fit, plus another bathroom with an even smaller toilet and three shower stalls closed off poorly with curtains. There's no privacy to shower, and water is always left on the floor for guests to mop up. The mirror is far from the small sink, and the lighting is poor. Shelves were filled with empty MW bottles for advertising. The description promised lockers, but there were only a few compartments with built-in locks in Soviet-era furniture, nowhere near enough for such an overcrowded hostel. I wouldn't recommend it unless you’re desperate and have no other options. This is a dorm, not a hostel.

A hospitable hostess, a real Odessa resident. It's not often I find a hostel that suits me so well: quiet, peaceful, and cozy, right in the heart of Odessa, two minutes on foot from Deribasovskaya. There are separate rooms for men and women, and the prices are affordable for Odessa. I recommend it!
