Lux Hotel

Yulia and Alla at reception were friendly and helpful whenever guests needed them. The rooms are spacious and bright, and they're cleaned every day. The grounds aren't large, but they're kept up nicely. Breakfast gets monotonous. Also, renting the hotel's grill costs 350 UAH, which feels brutal when buying ready-made shashlik is cheaper. At other hotels, using a grill or barbecue stove is usually free. :)

We were moved to the Lux Hotel because the main hotel was full. It's about 350 meters farther from the main Kolyada building. The place is lovely and clean, and the staff were polite and took care of all our requests. Breakfast was included, and it was tasty and filling. The public beach isn't private, but it's fairly clean, with sun loungers and umbrellas for rent. It's a 10-12-minute walk downhill. There's also a warm indoor pool. We enjoyed getting away from the heat and bustle for a couple of days.

Breakfast was the final letdown after an uncomfortable night. We had to leave the hotel and walk down the road to the end of the street to eat at the "Kolyada" hotel. The lovely terrace upstairs is reserved for restaurant guests, so everyone else eats on the first floor. The so-called buffet was unappetizing porridge like putty under a big saucepan, stale slices, a tasteless omelet, and a terrible casserole. Sausages with potatoes and dry cereal with milk were about the only edible things. The coffee was instant, too. All that for 1200 UAH. I absolutely wouldn't recommend this place even for one night. We had trouble finding it because GPS took us to a slum area in Odessa itself, where there's also a Bolgarska Street. This Lux Hotel is actually in the distant "Sovignyen" neighborhood, which looks like a dacha cooperative, and there's another street called Bolgarska there too. We stayed just one night and didn't want to extend it. The mattress was very uncomfortable, the floor badly scratched, and there was mold in the bathroom.

The staff are wonderful. I especially want to mention the maid Svetlana, who does everything she can to make the stay just right. The hotel feels cozy, and the rooms are clean and really beautiful. Thanks so much, I'd recommend it.
