Sofa Hostel

A nice hostel.

This was my second stay here, even though I only come to Poltava once or twice a year. The location is right in the city center, near a huge market, cafes, little shops and a post office, and the price feels fair for what you get. It's spacious, with cozy four-bed rooms. The bedding was fresh, mattresses soft, and each bed had a curtain and plenty of drawers above it. For a longer stay, the big kitchen and other facilities have pretty much everything: a shower, bathtub, two washing machines, bidet, hot water around the clock, Wi-Fi, iron and board, hairdryer, and more. The receptionist was attentive and walked me through the place and how everything works. Check-in is available until 11:00 PM. It was nice that nobody was drunk or stoned. I recommend it.

The location is a real plus, almost right in the city center. The kitchen has a very large balcony with two swings, though they're positioned so close to the windowsill that you can't really use them. The mattresses were old, sagging, and had yellow stains. I also found cockroaches in the kitchen, and there's no soundproofing.

You can book a private room, though the showers and toilets are shared. The kitchen has a TV, dishes, a stove, microwave, tea, coffee, and good Wi-Fi. One drawback is that you have to pass through the common area to get to your room.
