The camp grounds are in a lovely spot, but the buildings are worn and the owner and manager seem to be letting the place deteriorate. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I gave one star only because that was the lowest option. We booked the facility for a children’s camp, and the rooms and bedding were rough but usable. When we arrived, the staff weren’t prepared: there was no linen, the rooms hadn’t been aired out, and several beds or rooms smelled bad. Some lights in two or three rooms didn’t work, several outlets were dead, and one shower was out of order for our group of more than 40 kids. In two rooms there were only four beds instead of the five we expected, so we had to move beds from an empty cabin ourselves. There also weren’t enough linens or blankets for the children in the chilly weather. We knew the older, lower priced section hadn’t been renovated, but we still expected clean rooms, working lights and showers, and no spiders. The manager also didn’t tell us until the last minute that another group would be staying there and apparently had priority over the rooms. They arrived midweek, not on the last day. At the manager’s suggestion, we moved our worship service from the dining hall to a small recreation room, but the other group disrupted the meeting and made us leave. He did nothing to settle the conflict. He acted as if our being there didn’t matter. We had meals off campus, so food had nothing to do with my review. After the owner replied, I want to correct some things in that response. On our initial visit, we were shown only the old section, cabins, dining hall, and recreation room, not any other part of the camp. I saw no sign that the facilities or service had been improved, though this was my first stay, so perhaps things had been even worse before. I’d recommend someone sue the owner for breach of contract and negligence.
