Hotel Antonio

15.1.2026. The room was spotless, and I got a free upgrade. There was a coffee machine, a good restaurant and a shop, plus a generator. The room itself was rather cold and needed heating with the AC. Getting in was muddy because the hotel is in a residential courtyard, and it wasn't clear which parking spaces belonged to the hotel. Noisy gopniki with their boomer were hanging around in the yard, and the hotel considers that outside its responsibility.

The modern design and spot near the railway station are a plus. We had friendly service and a good range of food at reasonable prices. I especially liked the Syrniki, which can be tricky to make well, and would recommend the sea-buckthorn tea too. There’s a cozy restaurant area with a family room.

I’ve stayed here a few times, all during the war, and despite electricity cuts and heating problems around Ukraine, I never had those issues at this hotel. The rooms are large, and I had a king size bed, which is uncommon in Eastern Europe. It’s a small place, within walking distance of both train and bus stations, though it can be a little hard to find at first. There’s a restaurant attached on the first floor, and the food has always been fresh and really tasty. The attached grocery and convenience shop stays open late and has toiletries, water, juice, fruit, smokes, booze and pretty much anything else you might need.

We spent six nights here across two stays in June 2024, and would book it again if we visit Uzhhorod. The rooms are spacious, modern and very comfortable. The restaurant has a surprisingly broad menu, with well-prepared, good food, and bar service too. There’s also a grocery store on site, used by lots of locals, with a great variety of products. The hotel is conveniently near the bus and train stations.
