For 1,200 UAH a night, the room was fantastic: a separate room, kitchen, and spacious bathroom. Everything was clean and nearly new. The hallway is being renovated, but that’s not a big deal.

There was a bad smell from the courtyard all night, with pipes and people screaming. The area also has a bad reputation, and the only food delivery there is tasteless. Inside, the room smelled of smoke despite my request for a non-smoking room. The bathroom was like a public toilet: a dirty, stained, hairy toilet, yellow tap water, and a shower that was just a watering can and a hole in the floor. Instead of a double bed, there were two folding chairs pushed together.

The receptionist was a nice woman, and the general atmosphere was fine, though nights could get noisy. I stayed a few days. The lock on my room gave me trouble, and I had to spend five minutes standing at the door trying to open it. Also, the shower tiles were uneven, so water spread across the bathroom and I nearly fell. Please fix this.

The room is small, with a table and a bench as well as the bed, but it worked well for the price. For two people, 675 UAH ($18) gets you a double room with a private bathroom and parking, which is almost free. There’s hot water in the shower, toilet paper and soap, and fresh bedding and towels. Things aren’t new, but they’re clean. It’s a budget motel, so don’t expect the comfort of a two, three, or four-star city hotel. There’s a shared kitchen with a fridge and stove for cooking and storing food, and parking on the motel grounds is convenient. The center of Uzhgorod is 3.7 km away, walkable. Administrator Lyuda is friendly, sociable, and funny. There aren’t many hotels like this. I’d give it 10/10.
