Akello Hotel

A lovely place with a great atmosphere, easy to enjoy.

That Whole Fish they serve is EXCELLENT! The location isn’t ideal, since there’s not much to do nearby. The employees are really nice, though, and the rooms were better than when I stayed last year. When the power’s on, the air conditioner is strong and cool.

I only dealt with the hotel briefly, but it gave me a clear sense of the service. I arrived at 6:30pm to book a room, and the front desk manager was playing pool, so I had to go find him. He said rooms were available and took the master key to show me around. The first room hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest checked out. We looked at two more, and neither had been cleaned either. He then sent me to the hotel’s main branch, 5 kms away, to see if they had a room. It was already late, so I chose a hotel in town instead of risking another bad experience at the other branch. I couldn’t understand how the manager didn’t know the rooms weren’t ready while he was playing pool/snooker.

The rooms were clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. The chef was great too, preparing dinner and breakfast when we asked. Nothing seemed like too much trouble for the staff.
