Dream Jet Cottages

We arrived expecting the cottage I had booked for my family, but were told a tour company had booked it three days earlier. I’d reserved it in person five weeks before our date and asked for confirmation. Staff said it was properly entered in their booking book. The company had paid and was staying ten days, so they were given priority despite booking later than we did. The manager said we should have reconfirmed two days beforehand, but nobody had told us about that requirement or contacted me to check whether we were still coming. The administration seems completely disorganized, with four different logbooks and no clear system, and this led to a double booking. They offered us a night in the Suites as compensation, but we had specifically chosen the cottage. The manager didn’t seem to understand our frustration and offered no apology. It honestly feels like this could be a recurring trick to favor larger or more profitable bookings. Be cautious when reserving here.

We booked five cottages a month in advance, but when we arrived, the staff said they couldn’t give them to us because “regular clients” who booked that same day had priority. I’m a regular at Dream Jet and often come by for a beer with friends, but this visit left me unsettled. The owner or manager, an elderly woman with a Lukiga accent, seemed to favor certain customers. She profiled my friends and me, implying only white people were welcome, singled out my Asian friend, and suggested people who hadn’t booked in advance were seen as 'thugs'. She stood nearby watching us critically, which made things uncomfortable. She also told us not to wear crocs so the white patrons would feel more comfortable. When my friend sat on a chair that had been cleaned for guests, she confronted him as if he’d done something wrong. She refused to give her name, which I found suspicious. Her behavior was unprofessional and made it seem that her biases were shaping the guest house atmosphere. The guest house may have positive reviews, but my experience suggests some visitors could find management’s discriminatory attitudes unwelcoming. Keep that in mind if you’re considering a visit or stay.
