The food was a highlight: dinner was great, especially the beef burger, and breakfast had a good spread. The large bathroom had a rainfall shower and bathtub, and the electric fireplace in the room was a welcome surprise given how cold Kabale nights can be. The old buildings around the restaurant and accommodation might give one impression, but the modern amenities surprised me. I visited this antique hotel last month and found the stay worthwhile. I’d recommend this gem in Kabale for its genuine hospitality and touch of history.

The setting is lovely, with covered walkways, a park, and a garden. There’s gated parking and a guard at the entrance. Staff were always available to help and answer questions. Our room was clean, with good beds and mosquito nets, and the bathroom had hot water. There’s even a TV for watching soccer. We enjoyed the great food at breakfast and dinner. Amazing experience, we love this hotel, and I’d highly recommend staying here when you’re in Kabale!

White Horse Inn has been hosting business and leisure travellers in Kabale since 1929. Up on Makanda Hill, it’s a good choice if you’re after old-fashioned Ugandan hospitality and charm. The rooms are large, with warm showers, bathtubs, and warm linen.

It was a long time ago, but I remember it as a relaxed, romantic stay. We had sunsets and BBQ on the lawn, and the golf club was a short walk away. The service was friendly.

The beds are comfortable, the food is nice, and it’s a peaceful place with a spacious compound and a vintage feel. But if you’re looking for the modern hotel extras people expect these days, like a swimming pool, gym, or yoga space, you may want to look elsewhere. I’d give it 3.9 stars, since we’re in this new normal for big hotels.
