The rooms are basic, and the food arrived cold. Breakfast was bananas, a hot drink, and just one juice, and remember to add the city tax. There’s no internet reaching the rooms. Service was friendly, and the shower was good, with hot water especially when it rains. But the electricity was poor or absent, particularly in the rain, and it can pour hard.

Right by the ferry terminal, so getting the ferry to Entebbe is easy. It’s good budget accommodation on the Ssese islands, with rooms by the water, though the facilities are bare bones.

There’s a restaurant serving fresh tilapia, plus a swimming pool that both residents and walk-in guests can use. Beside the port in Kalangala, this is a lovely facility with mid-range rooms and camping for families and groups. They can arrange fishing excursions and community tours to nearby fishing communities. I’d recommend staying 3+ nights.

The grounds are extensive, with lots of tree shade, big gardens for outdoor events and activities, and a lakefront. The beach sand has been taken by the rising water level, though the views are still stunning. There’s a lot of land, so moving from one point to another can sometimes be hectic. It’s not crowded except on weekends. If you want greenery and space, try Kalangala Pearl Resort. I was here for the first time on a trip to Kalangala, and the team did their best to make my stay comfortable. Everyone, from the front team and manager to housekeeping and support, was ready to help. Residents get the swimming pool and sauna as complementary services, while walk-ins are charged. The rooms are well maintained, though the water pressure in mine was low. I told management, and they said they would fix it.

I really enjoyed my time at Kalangala Pearl Resort. The sandy beach, pool, and sauna were lovely, the staff were attentive, and the food was delicious. A great place to find some peace and quiet away from Kampala. I’d recommend it 100%.
