The food here is generally bad, and the Christmas buffet in 2025 was the worst. They have no customer care and don't pay attention to customer feedback. If you're thinking of spending Christmas here, please save your money for another hotel.

Fontis isn't what it used to be. The standards from Kariuki’s time are gone, and what's left is a shadow of what this place once was. I sat at my table with no service while waiters and waitresses looked busy but nothing got done. In the end I went to the bar for my drinks and nearly had to carry the bottles back myself, which no customer should have to do. The bartender finally noticed and offered help, but I still waited another 15 minutes for glasses. Very disappointing.

In the middle of Kampala city, Fontis Residence Hotel feels like a hidden treasure, with spacious rooms that have an exclusive luxury feel. The swimming pool was great, and I really enjoyed the fresh fish and pure organic coffee from the best Barista in town. Credit to the chef as well. It's easy to get to in town, in a diplomatic neigbour hood. I can't wait to return.

The toilets were very clean, though they could use a bidet. The chicken curry and naan were wow, the chips were tasty, and the passion mojito wasn't bad.

Right in the heart of Kampala, opposite Nakasero Primary school, it's a cool place with lots of services, including a swimming pool and health club. The rooms are the best, customer service and care are good, and it's a very executive place for high class. Five stars, this is the best.
