GNS Hotel Kampala

My visitor had a bad stay, and in the end moved to a different hotel. The hot and cold water weren't working properly, the toilet wouldn't flush well, and the rooms had a strong smell. The air conditioning was set according to the hotel's preference, and they'd taken away the remote. I had paid for all seven days, but there was no refund for the four unused days. The staff were quite good, though. Management, please sort out these issues so guests can be satisfied. Thank you.

For $34 online, the value is decent, though the hotel could use some work. The lift is very slow, and after sunset you can't take it to the 4th or 5th floor, so you have to use the stairs inside for safety and security. Some rooms get a weak WiFi signal, and complaining about it doesn't seem to help. The staff are good but still not very professional. Remember to ask for your receipt, since they may forget to give it to you. Booking through AGODA will get you half price. It works if you're not expecting more.

Getting around was easy from the hotel's spot just outside the central mosque, a landmark everyone seemed to know. I explored town and often got around on the back of motorcycles. The staff were warm and friendly for the most part, though one could be a bit grumpy. The food was good, and I had a wonderful stay. Keep the receipts for any payments and ask for them, since that can prevent misunderstandings.

The room and breakfast were only average, and we thought some items were overpriced. Check-in also took a long time and was really complicated, with payment problems on top of our booking.com reservation. Just an average hotel in Kampala.
