The location is good, but the service overall leaves a lot to be desired.

The manager was a big help with local shops, directions, and getting transport such as boda bodas, and always found a fix for even small problems. JBK Hotel is right in central Kampala near the market, which made it easy to explore and get to essentials. Our room was clean and kept spotless with daily cleaning, and the restaurant downstairs was handy and served delicious food. A comfortable, convenient stay.

It was a quiet place, and the desk stayed open late, which helped when I was there in 2011 in a very urgent situation. The room was okay, with cable/satellite TV and a beautiful bathroom where hot water was available. The bed was stiff as a board, typical in Uganda, and there was no AC, though some reviews suggest that may have changed since. Breakfast was good too. I found it expensive, personally, since I later stayed at places in UG for as little as $10/night that were just as nicely appointed. Just know it gets VERY busy once the sun comes up.
