Koki Hotel

The rooms were very clean, the food was great, and the staff were friendly and easy to chat with. The hotel is in Kampala CBD, so it’s easy to find and get to. I’d suggest adding a bar, with more alcohol brands and cocktails. It’d be easier to have a drink at the hotel instead of heading out.

We ended up with a larger room, and it had plenty of space and good air conditioning. The living room was so cold it felt like it was throwing ice at us. Breakfast was good, though we waited ages for the eggs. It’s one street from downtown, and the entrance is hectic.

The Executive and Family rooms I saw were spacious and excellent. The rooms are big, with large beds and the facilities I needed, plus toiletries including bathrobes, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. There’s air conditioning, a fridge, a TV, mosquito nets over the beds, plenty of outlets, and bedside lamps for reading. Wi-Fi was stable and good. The buffet breakfast, included in the room price, had lots of vegetables, fruit, drinks, and food for a full meal. The restaurant is affordable and open 24 hours, with room service, and you can also get food delivered from outside. The staff were wonderful, kind, and patient. I had a nice stay, and the value for money was very good. This is becoming my favourite place to stay in Kampala, and I’d come back. As a light sleeper who’s sensitive to noise, I tried two kinds of rooms. In rooms with windows and a view, traffic noise was an issue, but it was quieter at night on the higher floors. The rooms without windows that were isolated from traffic noise were quiet day and night, though voices from noisy or inconsiderate neighbours carried easily. I’d choose a room with a view, since traffic times are more predictable than the neighbours. In the city centre, some traffic noise in rooms with views is inevitable, but it was quiet enough from 11pm to 6am.

The staff were amazing, friendly, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile. The place was clean, and the rooms were refreshed every day. I loved the breakfast buffet and omelettes. It’s in a great central Kampala location, and I’ll book here on future trips. The town centre traffic could bother light sleepers, so earplugs might help. It didn’t bother me, and it’s to be expected in such a central spot.
