The Seventeen Apartment Hotel

The room itself was very spacious, with amazing views from the penthouse suite. We hadn’t asked for an upgrade, but that’s where they put us. The windows could use tighter screens because mosquitoes came in all night, and the apartment was sparsely decorated. There’s also no elevator, and getting to the top meant climbing what I think were nine stories. Even so, it met our needs more than well enough, and we’d stay again. We’d needed to book a room the same day after a last-minute flight change, and the manager was very accommodating as our details changed, even letting us check out later. We arrived after the Kampala curfew, but the receptionist was ready to look after us.

The view is lovely, but the place is run down and the photos are old. Our room had broken glass doors, and the glass balcony walls felt flimsy and unsafe for kids. There’s no lift, so it’s eight flights of stairs, and there’s no air conditioning. The staff were friendly, apart from the landlady, who was tyrannical and not very accommodating. The policies are crazy, and the stay wasn’t worth it. You’d be better off at the Golden Tulip down the road, or Serena Kampala if you can afford it. If you do stay here, visit Holy Crepes.

The workers are well trained, and this place feels really unique. It’s my first time at seventeen apartment -Hotel, and I’m so happy here I hardly know how to put it into words. A comfortable and convenient hotel for anyone looking for a place to stay.
