Tropic Inn Hotel

The mosquitoes were everywhere, honestly. Please, management, do something about it. I was there for just an hour, but there were so many mosquitoes.

The location is good, the staff are really friendly, and we got a clean, decent room for a very fair price. You can negotiate the rate, too. The hotel is run down and has some real issues, though the management knows and renovations are underway. Don't expect too much, but we still found the stay comfortable. Five stars for the value.

The service was fantastic, and the grounds were in good shape when I stayed at the Tropic Inn in March of 2019. The pool wasn't filled, but each bed had a mosquito net, which was a big plus. I'd stay there again if I make it back.

We went because Expedia listed a swimming pool. It was Christmas 2022, and the hotel was empty and being reconstructed. With the red carpets and doors, the place felt like something out of the Shining. The pool had been drained, and the rooms were dirty, with electrical wiring exposed in the walls. We couldn't risk staying in rooms that felt unsafe with a child. Staff offered us their best room, but even that had problems, like no toilet seat. Expedia still refused to refund us.
