Kijungu Hill Hotel

It was just okay for a few reasons. The bathroom is spacious and the toilet flushes well, but the bathtub can’t be used. Water pressure is very poor, so showering takes ages and a bath seems impossible. There are broken tiles and holes, and the whole room feels short on maintenance, even though it was clean. The first water from the sink tap smells rusty, like it had been sitting in a rusted copper container. You have to let it run for about a minute before it’s fresh and odorless. The bed is on the hard side, not memory foam. There are only two hangers and one drawer. The bathroom windows have no netting, so bugs come in when the light is on. Wi-Fi reaches the bedroom, which is good. I didn’t use the balcony overlooking the hotel’s central garden because I was only there to sleep and left early for work, but it didn’t look inviting with spider webs across the ceiling and bugs flying around. The mosquito net over the bed was too small, and I had to tuck it around the mattress, where it barely closed. The room was warm, and the only fan helps, but you need the windows open, which lets in the bugs. It was quiet throughout, which is great for anyone with heightened auditory sensitivity, including autistic people. The hotel isn’t wheelchair accessible, not even at reception. You need a taxi or car to get there because the road outside is unpaved. At the restaurant, the menu lists lots of items but only half or fewer were available, so I ended up having just a fruit platter for dinner. I wouldn’t stay longer than one night.
