Tabebuia Spa & Safari Resort

We spent two nights and three days at Tabebuia Spa and safari resort, and leaving was emotional. The resort and its people felt like a family away from home. Everyone was friendly, professional, happy to help, and went out of their way for us. The serene surroundings, beautiful scenery, and relaxing spa area made the stay special, and the infinity pool overlooking the views was incredible. Our room, Crowned Eagle, had a beautiful balcony view of the lake and wilderness, plus a lovely, well-furnished interior that met our expectations. The food was beautifully presented and delicious, and Chef Collins and his team kept us looking forward to meals. The menu was distinctive, they accommodated requests beyond it, and the table was thoughtfully set up each time. The service started at the gate, where the gate man addressed me by both names, which made me feel I was in the right place. Jessica came over to help with our luggage, and Carol welcomed us at reception with a big smile and warm, refreshing towels. Eddy and Dickson brought us a lovely welcome drink together, a two-by-two, five-star service idea that I loved and saw throughout our stay. Dickson checked us in. Hesborn and Eddy also captured our moments seamlessly. On 7 July, my birthday, they surprised me with a small, lovely cake and candles in our room, while Eddy and Carol sang happy birthday. Mark, the manager, introduced himself in person and was always around when we needed something. We wanted to try the tea house, but staff explained there was a power shortage, so we never got to have tea there. We also hoped to use the Jacuzzi, but its bubbles weren't working well despite the staff member's best effort.

The staff were the part we appreciated most, from the front desk and restaurant and kitchen teams to the smiling gardeners. They were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant team made sure our requests were met. The food was excellent, and the WIFI worked smoothly. Our modern, spacious rooms were high quality and extremely clean. The resort sits on a hill above a stunning crater lake, and we loved the view from the restaurant terrace at breakfast, sundowner, and dinner. The breathtaking infinity pool is just one level below.

The resort is lovely, and the restaurant staff were good. Eddy in particular stood out for great customer service. The room service they call turn down happens while guests are out for dinner, to prepare the room for bedtime. During ours, someone broke a glass and left the pieces scattered across the floor. We came back late, after a long day, to find it that way. I called reception twice for housekeeping, but nobody came. I went up twice, and on the last trip had to beg for a broom so I could clean it myself. Only then did they finally send someone. It took about an hour and a half to get a broom. At more than $500 a night, that was not acceptable. Mistakes happen, but they need to put things right. They could have offered a complimentary meal or something after checkout, and we didn't even get an apology.

The views are incredible, and I could visit again and again. Jessica and Edward gave exceptional customer care. I also loved the quiet, rustic feel and the idea of the tea room. The firelighters and night lighting were wow, they reminded me of fireflies from back in the day. It felt like a little heaven, and the only place in Uganda that's ever left me with post-indulgence blues.
