For the price, the room was good. It’s a nice little B&B on a quiet side road, not far from the city center. The hosts weren’t there and I couldn’t get hold of them. I tried calling and emailing about check-in times without a response, so my friend had to pick up the key for me. There were two men sitting or sleeping in the downstairs lobby day and night, which felt a bit strange. Also, an alarm in an electrical box went off twice and cut power to the whole building. We guests had to call a number to get someone to turn it off, after about 20 minutes.

I was coming from overseas and really appreciated the care I received during my three-night stay at the Guest House. Kevin replied to my email promptly, and booking was easy. I’d happily recommend the Guest House and hope to come back next year.

I just wanted a quiet break, but ended up booking another hotel because I couldn’t get confirmation from the guest house. Booking.com said it hadn’t heard back from them. I tried the direct contact link and called the day before travelling, with no reply. Then at 10.00 pm they rang to ask where I was. Maybe this was Booking.com’s fault or the Guest house hotel’s, but it certainly wasn’t mine, and Booking.com are impossible to reach. The owners have kept my £200. That’s a lot of money for a 67 year old pensioner on disability benefits. Greed. I hope Karma catches up with them, and God has mercy on them.

They called the day before our stay to say there’d been a double booking and they could only give us one room instead of the two we’d booked. I asked them to cancel, since that wouldn’t work for us. The Guest House told me to seek the refund through booking.com, and I spent hours trying without success. They’ve ignored the messages I sent through the site. I booked with The Guest House on booking.com on 24th July 2025 for 2nd August 2025. As of 12th September 2025, I still hadn’t got my money back. I can see another woman posted about a problem here a couple of days ago on Google reviews. If they can’t honor a booking, they should refund people promptly. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, the booking process was unreliable and the customer service when fixing their mistake was very poor.

I arrived in Abergavenny without anywhere to stay and was lucky to reach Kevin and Lyn at the Guest House, as they had a room free. The place was lovely, with a comfortable, roomy setup and everything I needed in the room. I could come and go as I liked. They welcomed me warmly, gave me useful information about town, and had secure parking for my bike. Breakfast was really nice, and the dining area was relaxing. The hosts were very accommodating. I’d recommend it and hope to return.
