The price felt far too high for the standard and service. The owner wasn’t around or interested unless something was requested. We stayed four nights, and the room and shared areas, including the dining area, had dirty, sticky floors. I had to ask for someone to sweep at least the floor; nobody offered fresh bedding or towels. There was dried milk in the fridge that hadn’t been cleaned out during my stay. Breakfast was advertised as continental, but it was just bread, butter, jam and cereals, with tea, coffee and sugar. I found the bread out of date twice. Sometimes there was juice and small bottles of water, but no fruit, yogurt, croissants, muffins or anything similar. The shower tray was high and had no grab handles, making it easy to slip getting in or out. The road to the farm was remote, dark and hollow, and the walls were thin enough that I could hear drawers opening in the next room.

Avoid this place. We never even got as far as seeing a room. We booked and paid in May24, and the last personal message I got from Natalie was in Oct 24. When we arrived in Dec 24, we were told there was no booking. Natalie didn’t answer my calls, so I had to speak to her elderly Mum on a mobile. Natalie said she’d stopped using the booking agent we’d booked through, but the agent told us the account was still active and they hadn’t been told. Natalie said she couldn’t help and that it was between us and the agent. After travelling since 4am, taking flights to Scotland and having a busy day, we were sitting in a hire car in the middle of nowhere with rain hammering on the roof. It was dark and cold, and we were told the booking we’d paid for didn’t exist, basically that it was our problem. There was no compassion or offer to let us sit somewhere warm while we sorted it out. We were left out in the cold to deal with everything ourselves. Don’t risk this happening to you, go elsewhere.

In my experience, this place isn’t wheelchair accessible, and I don’t recommend booking if you use a wheelchair. The bathroom door wouldn’t open wide enough for my electric wheelchair to get in, and getting around the room was extremely difficult. My left leg doesn’t bend at all, so it sticks out and makes manoeuvring harder. The parking area outside is full of stones, very difficult to get across in a wheelchair, and I got stuck several times.

Natalie was friendly and very helpful, and we got a really warm welcome. It’s a beautiful place to stay, with spacious, nicely decorated rooms, and you’re not far from Glasgow. They also have some nice Scottish [text ends here], which we really enjoyed.
