Wentworth Hotel

The location is beautiful, the room was lovely and the seating was comfortable, but the afternoon tea and service fell short of what I expected. I booked it to share with my sister, who'd come from Canada for her 60th birthday. The tea was average, with some cakes so heavy they were hard to eat, though it was okay overall. Our waiter didn't seem to have had much training. He asked whether we wanted tea or coffee, without offering any of the teas listed in the afternoon tea description, then called the food our “snacks.” He struggled to fit everything on the table and pushed the cake stand into place instead of asking us to move things. We stepped in before anything could fall. When I asked for another pot of tea, he agreed, but acted as if he was doing me a favour when I also asked for a clean cup because mine had cold tea in it. He tilted the tray so much when bringing the fresh pot that tea spilled across the floor and nearly onto my sister and her coat. He left the puddle there and didn't come back to clean it. He never checked whether everything was okay. I emailed twice to say I was dissatisfied and got no reply. That was disappointing too.
