The dinner was a real highlight, fresh, well cooked food, and several staff members made us feel welcome. James at the bar was friendly, Debbie was attentive at breakfast, and the cleaning team did a wonderful job. My daughter had booked our stay at Aldwark Manor as a Christmas present, and we did enjoy much of it. We had been looking forward to the spa, though at check-in we were offered only one evening slot, which wasn’t practical. It seemed day guests were getting priority over hotel residents. When we asked if we could at least look around, the spa manager, Daniel, was very rude to us. There was also a lot of building work during our stay, and nobody had told us when we booked. We even had to pay extra for a quiet room away from the construction. Those issues took away from what should have been a special gift.

The spa was lovely and relaxing, with a beautiful pool, and I’ll definitely be back ❤️ The hotel itself was spotless and set in gorgeous grounds. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. Elements had a really relaxing feel, with great background music, and the food was delicious. I’m coeliac and need gluten-free food, and the staff were careful and attentive about cross-contamination.

The outdoor spa pool was much too hot when we visited. It still hadn’t cooled down after an hour and a half, so I think something may have been wrong with it. I’m sure it’s sorted now, though, and it wouldn’t put me off coming back. I went to the spa with my mum for her birthday on 4th March, and we had such a lovely time. It’s gorgeous, and the staff were brilliant. I can’t remember the name of the woman who served us breakfast at the Elements restaurant, but she was so funny and nice. Kieran at the spa desk was especially friendly and accommodating. We can’t wait to return.

Harry at the bar made some brilliant cocktails, and we had a great meal in the restaurant at a reasonable price. The staff were fantastic, attentive and efficient throughout. We had a lovely anniversary weekend in one of the beautiful suites. There were complimentary chocolates and a card waiting in our room, and we really enjoyed the swimming pool, sauna and steam room. We’ll stay again. Thank you!

We ate at the Elements restaurant and really enjoyed the food and service. Later, we had drinks by the fire in the bar, which was cosy. We didn’t book any spa treatments because the treatment rooms weren’t finished due to the ongoing renovations, although they were offering some selected treatments in temporary rooms that week for Valentine’s. The hotel is beautiful, wheelchair friendly, and the staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The spa felt calm and warm, but full use was limited to two hours. There was quite a bit of sediment at the bottom of the indoor pool. The outdoor thermal pool was delightful and clean, even in the rain. We upgraded to a balcony room for £145 for one night, including breakfast. It was £30 extra for a room with both a bath and balcony. The phone didn’t work, and the balcony floor was slippery with algae. That’s to be expected this time of year, but it could have been washed before we arrived. The view was lovely, though we’d have seen the sunset if the day had been clear. Overall, a great stay.
