We booked late for a Valentine weekend in Ambleside, so there was only a small room left. We took a chance and it turned out to be amazing, with plenty of space for the two of us. The bed was so comfortable we had trouble getting up, and everything was impeccably clean, including a faultless bathroom and shower. Brathay Lodge is right in the heart of Ambleside, with brilliant, friendly staff. There’s a large car park at the side, and the daily charge was very reasonable. It was one of the cleanest B & B’s I’ve stayed in and excellent value. We couldn’t have asked for more, and will make a point of booking again on our next Lakes trip. Thank you all at Brathay Lodge for making our first Ambleside stay so special. We’ll see you again soon.

Carol was absolutely amazing, and the cleaning team deserves credit for rooms that were spotless. The location is great, just minutes from everything Ambleside has to offer. It’s clear they really care about the service they provide. I was extremely impressed and loved our excellent weekend at Brathay Lodge. Nick & Mikki

This time we came with extended family, 17 of us across six rooms. All the rooms were comfortable and very clean, and we enjoyed the breakfast each day, with a range of choices in a sort of continental plus style. Another wonderful stay. Trevor, Karen, Carol and the rest of the team are great. Looking forward to coming back.

Breakfast had a spectacular spread of cereals, fruit and yogurts, along with breads and pastries. There was plenty of it, and the coffee was good. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our rooms were large and airy, with lovely views from the windows and plenty to watch. Everything was immaculately clean, including the well equipped bathrooms, and we had a generous hospitality tray. It’s a great location, with an easy level walk into town. We had a really delightful stay at Brathay Lodge and would recommend it to anyone.
