We left the car parked for our whole stay and got around easily. The bus stop is only five minutes away, with services to Keswick, Kendal and Bowness on Windermere. Ambleside is a short walk down the road, while Rydal Water, Caves and Rydal Hall are a short walk in the other direction. It’s a perfect base for exploring the Lakes. The hosts were lovely, the rooms clean and spacious, and breakfast was superb. Highly recommend.

The hotel feels tucked away and private, so it was quiet and relaxing, yet an easy 15 minute walk from Ambleside and its various amenities. We had a spacious room and found the place clean. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast was simple but we were well catered for. We could park on the morning we checked in, go for a wander, then check in later. The same arrangement worked on our checkout day.

I’ve just had a lovely three night stay and will definitely return. The guest house is set back from the main road, so it’s nice and quiet, and the friendly, polite owners and staff made a good impression. It’s a pleasant 10 minute walk into Ambleside. My room was spacious and warm, with a nicely decorated bedroom, a small lobby and a large bathroom. The bathroom had a shower, jacuzzi bath and his and hers sinks. In the bedroom there was a large wardrobe, chest of drawers, table and two chairs by the bay window. The room also had a large TV, tea and coffee, a kettle and a small fridge. There’s a lounge and breakfast room on the ground floor beside reception. Breakfast was lovely, with a good menu and plenty of choice.

Crow How is a quiet spot surrounded by green mountains, a lovely place to find some peace. Ambleside is within easy walking distance. Our room was spacious, big and clean, and breakfast was good.

The location made it easy to get into town for shops or an evening meal and drinks. It’s a short walk along Rydal Road, with a good footpath and streetlights, so coming back after dark wasn’t a problem. Ambleside has loads of nice shops and plenty of places to eat. Staff were nice, helpful and professional, and breakfast was tasty each day with a good selection. We stayed in Room 1, which was as advertised, quiet, comfortable and clean. We had a lovely anniversary weekend here with my fiancée. We’ve done the Fairfield horseshoe loop before, so this time we wanted something more relaxed. Windermere Lake Cruises was a good choice, and we had a lovely day on the lake and exploring Ambleside and Bowness. The attached pictures are from Stickle Tarn, Langdale and Harrison Stickle on the 06/04/2025.
