George Hotel

The food was really good, and there was at least one local ale on tap, which suited me. We also found the place beautifully decorated, from the bar and restaurant to the hotel bedroom, with a really relaxed feel. The staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful without hovering. It’s well placed for Stonehenge, Avebury and Sailsbury, which we visited on our way to Cornwall. What an absolute gem. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area.

Our upgraded room was huge, beautifully decorated, and very quiet overnight, with a big comfortable bed and armchairs. The bathroom was spotless, with a hot, powerful shower over the bath, decent shower gel and shampoo, a heated towel rail and a mirror. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, with a good choice of cocktails and dishes, and the service was perfect. Every staff member was welcoming, friendly and professional, from arrival and check-in through dinner and checkout. A perfect experience, just how hospitality should be done.

Stopped by the bar with a friend for food and drinks. The venue was really nice, well kept and relaxing. Staff were friendly, the cakes and food were good, and they made me a good cup of tea, even making it stronger when I asked.

Our room was delightful, clean, warm and comfortable, and everything worked. The food was good, and the bar was very nice with hotel prices that were quite reasonable. Thanks to the staff for making our Boxing Day stay special. They were courteous, caring, attentive to detail and, above all, cheerful. Thoroughly recommend. Frances and Julian 2025
