Holiday Inn Ashford North A20

The reception and restaurant teams were friendly and efficient, but the hotel looks grubby from outside because of the disused pub boarded up in front. On my last night I ate the fish in the restaurant, then spent the whole night projectile vomiting. At 4:30, I told staff I was very ill and needed toilet paper. It arrived promptly, praise be. I’d had no sleep and my client agreed to move the meeting to later or the following day, so I asked to extend my stay while I recovered. The manager didn’t offer a free night or even a discount for the extra one, just said, “let us know by 11am check out what you want to do”. Needless to say, I left and wouldn’t stay there again.

Rachel at the front desk gave us the warmest welcome and was incredibly helpful. The room was clean, fresh and excellent, and breakfast was great, with fried eggs that weren’t rubbery like the ones at Premier Inn. Our evening meals were superb, served fresher and hotter than any meals I can remember. The staff were helpful and genuinely engaged in conversation. We stayed at three chains over five nights: Travelodge Westwood cross was 5/10, Premier inn Margate was 4/10, and Holiday inn ashford north was 11/10. This was our best ever hotel stay. Great hotel, and we’ll book again whenever we have a few days’ leave due.

We came as a tour group. The staff were very friendly, and the rooms did the job, though the TV and bathroom fittings looked a bit dated and the beds were rather small. The coffee was good, and both breakfast and dinner were buffet style. Everything was delicious.

We’ve been IHG members for 15 years, so it was disappointing to be treated this way. We accidentally booked the 6th of December instead of the 7th for a family of four using points. Even after calling IHG to explain the honest mistake and having them email the hotel, we were charged £106 for not showing up. I raised it with reception when we checked in, but a few days later got a robotic email quoting the terms and conditions and refusing to refund the cancellation fee. On top of that, the bathroom smelled of sewage all night. Really disappointing service.
