Anchorage Hotel

We came back from a five-day Christmas break with our local coach company feeling that Russell and the staff had made it extra special. Everyone put guests’ needs first, and the meal times were enjoyable, with really good, plentiful food. At reception, Daisy and the owner Russell welcomed us, and our cases were taken up with free portage. The room worked for our special needs. When I explained my wife’s sight issue, Daisy helped us choose the best table in the restaurant. A big thank you to Russell and all his staff. We’ll recommend the hotel to family and friends.

Breakfast had a good selection and was faultless. The room was lovely, the bed really comfortable, and the staff are always polite and friendly. We’ll definitely stay again. Well done, everyone! See you soon, from James and Sue.

The food was great, with tasty evening meals and a lovely choice at breakfast. My husband especially liked the desserts. The decor is a bit dated, as other reviews mentioned, but our room was spotless and the bathroom clean. We felt welcome from the first hello to the last goodbye, and the hard-working staff were friendly and polite. When my hairdryer broke, I called reception and had another at the door in two minutes. We’ll definitely return. Keep up the good work!

The best part was leaving. The hotel felt very dated and dirty, with worn carpets and a damp smell throughout. The windows were rotten and running with water inside, and tea towels had been put on the sills to mop it up. The whole place needs a deep clean. Our bedroom was dirty, though the bed was clean. After checkout, our friend had bites all over and was told they were bed bug bites. I was told the hotel had historically been infested with them. The food was awful, with no choice, just whatever was served carvery-style. Don’t waste your money. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
