Steven greeted the four of us when we arrived on Sunday, 1 March, and made us feel welcome straight away. His son, also called Steven, was lovely too, and we met him at breakfast the next morning. The rooms were spotless, and the location was just right. Breakfast was lovely, from the food to the coffee. This is the best B&B I’ve ever stayed in. We’ll definitely be back soon. See you again, Mary, Sara, Yvonne and Sarah.

We stayed at Astala Lodge twice this week with friends, and both visits were really pleasant. Our twin room was comfortable, the beds were good, and despite the changeable weather in Bangor we all slept well. The room temperature was comfortable too. The owner was very helpful, and the lodge sits by the marina, handy for both the town centre and train station. Breakfast is a good continental spread that you can help yourself to, with nice marina views from the breakfast room. My only suggestion would be slightly larger mugs in the rooms, since the ones provided felt small for a proper cup of tea. I’d happily stay at Astala again when I’m back in Bangor. Many thanks.

The beds were so comfortable I was out in no time, and the rooms were spotless. We stayed two nights and absolutely loved it. Definitely recommend.

Julie gave us a tour and helped us pick a lovely spot for dinner, and the guest house is right on the Bangor seafront. It’s a gorgeous little place, spotless, with a really comfortable room. The toilet pump was noisy, which cost it a point, but I’d still take that over a toilet that wouldn’t flush. It’s a little gem for a Bangor stay.

Breakfast was good, and the service was friendly and very helpful. We had a superior double overlooking the marina, with a large, clean room, comfortable beds and a good-sized bathroom with a tub and shower together. We enjoyed our stay, though on the Sunday night the noise from the bar kept us awake until things quieted down.
