The Park Hotel

For a work stay, this is probably one of the nicest places I've stayed. It's a quiet spot close to the town centre, with great decor throughout and really smart rooms. Everything was perfectly clean, and all the staff have been extremely polite and welcoming. The food is delicious too. Highly recommended.

We went to the Park Hotel yesterday for a carvery dinner, with my wife and a friend who invited us. The beef was a bit tough, but the rest of the carvery was good. My wife found a bit of string in her gammon, and the staff sorted it out by giving her a free dessert. We were disappointed there wasn't much choice for gluten-free and dairy-free desserts. Apart from that, it was okay.

The fruit plate with sorbet was the only saving grace, and the coffee was decent enough. The rest of the meal with my family at the restaurant was very disappointing, especially after we'd been before and found the food and service excellent. The food was barely warm, and the overcooked potatoes were very tough. I had roasted aubergine with cheese, but the aubergine wasn't cooked, so I ate the other vegetables instead. They were reasonable, but barely warm too.

I've stayed at this amazing find twice now, and it's so pleasing when a place is as good as the photos. The hotel and rooms are immaculate and recently decorated, with showers that have strong water pressure. The evening food and breakfast are fantastic, but the real shining star is the staff. Everyone I've met has been friendly, smiling, helpful, and chatty. Thanks for looking after your guests so well. See you again soon.
