That residents’ lounge was our favourite part, with its cosy log burner, comfy sofas, reading material and relaxed feel. We also loved the pool and spa, and the room was spotless and comfortable, right down to the beds and bathroom. The two breakfasts and evening meals were all superb and good value. We came as three friends for a two-night “galentines” break and felt welcome from our first chat with the friendly receptionist with dark hair in a ponytail. Sorry we didn’t catch her name. Lee, who seemed to run the dining room day and night, was lovely and worked so hard, and Jamie on Reception was great too. The staff are a real asset to this home-from-home hotel and deserve all the appreciation. Castle Inn is a hidden gem in beautiful surroundings. We’ll definitely be back. If you can, book direct, as they have great offers and a price-match policy. Thank you to everyone at Castle Inn 🙌🏆

We had a lovely room and the food was great, and everyone on staff was really friendly. Nothing we asked for felt like too much trouble. We stayed two nights over Valentines weekend and are already looking forward to coming back later in the year. Highly recommended.

The pool was too busy for us to use, and it was smaller than it appears on the website. Even with the rain, though, we had a good time exploring nearby Keswick and would happily stay here again. We had a lovely stay, starting with a warm welcome from the polite young man at reception, with dark curly hair. I’m sorry, I’m terrible at remembering names, but he was so helpful and is a credit to the hotel. The dining staff were great as well, and we enjoyed breakfast. Thanks to all the staff for a fab time!

The views of Skiddaw and ullock pike from our room were excellent, and sunrise and sunset were quite a spectacle. The pool and spa were great too, and the tavern food and service were faultless. It made for an easy, much-needed getaway. My partner and I stayed for one night with our baby son. The staff were very polite and accommodating, and provided a cot for the room. Everything there was clean, nicely presented and had what we needed. The setting is excellent for views of the fells. A few parts of the hotel looked a bit dated and could do with renovation, but nothing was shabby or dirty.

Dinner felt quite expensive for what we got, and the quality didn’t really match the price. Breakfast was also a let-down. The staff were a real highlight, though. Shannon on reception was genuinely friendly and very professional, and kindly upgraded our room, which made a big difference. She was so helpful and set a lovely tone as soon as we arrived. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely presented. Alex at breakfast was welcoming, attentive and full of knowledge. He remembered everything and made it feel relaxed, while Paul at the bar was friendly and great to chat with.
