Ellie and a new staff member were especially great. He seemed as though he'd worked there for years, and everyone was so friendly and helpful. We had a lovely two-night stay at the Old Mill Lodge. Our room was clean, modern, and comfortable, and the staff couldn't do enough for us. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

I left after one night without even having breakfast, then walked into Bath to cool down. The walls are very thin, there was plaster coming off the bathroom ceiling, and I had to clear blocked holes in the shower so the water would drain. The handrail on the stairs down to room 125 was coming away from the wall, and reception staff overshared. There was noise outside my window and from next door during the night, including someone trying to get into the next-door room's window. I called reception twice to ask for help. The receptionist was asleep when I called. They dealt with the first problem but not the second, so I got dressed and went to reception myself. I pressed the button there, but nobody came to help. With no help from the hotel, I banged on the wall to ask room 124 to quiet down between 3 and 4 a.m. They came out shouting, and when I told them to be quiet, they verbally abused me. There's also a toll bridge next to the hotel. If you're staying a few days and driving, you have to pay in both directions even if you only turn around. The only positive is that I was there just one night. I'll write a complaint and seek a chargeback through my credit card company. Luckily, I called reception on my phone.

The river view from the breakfast room and adjoining deck, with the working water wheel, was lovely. We paid £163 for two nights in a basic double room in the main hotel, room 126, with breakfast included. The room was small and had a leaking shower head and a curtain partly off its rail, but the bed was very comfortable. Continental breakfast was fine. The hotel does need updating, though that would mean higher rates. For the price we paid, it was absolutely fine. If we want somewhere more refined next time, we'll budget more. I'd also encourage guests to take the canal towpath into Bath centre, about 2.5 miles. My high rating is based on value for money.

I only stopped by to ask whether a room was available and left my car in the lot for a few minutes. I didn't stay overnight or use any facilities, but later a parking ticket arrived in the mail. There were no clear signs or warnings about the policy, and nobody on staff told me that parking was restricted even for a brief visit. That felt completely unfair and left a very negative impression. A hotel should welcome potential guests, not penalize them just for checking availability. I won't go back or recommend the place to anyone.
