Ramada London Stansted Airport

Dinner was a highlight, Anumon made really great burgers. The rooms were clean, and Lisa and Alma gave us brilliant service. The staff took care of everything we needed, and we loved our stay. Definitely coming back.

The bathroom needs work. There was sealant everywhere, the sink drained so slowly that half a basin took a couple of minutes, and we found a few silverfish on the floor. The lifts are tiny too, just about enough room for two adults and two kids. Still, we slept well because the room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. Heating and air conditioning both worked perfectly. The TV was small but fine for watching casually, and Wi-Fi averaged about 39 Mb/s, plenty for Netflix or YouTube. The room itself was basic, as you’d expect for the price. It’s a handy stop before a flight, with shops and places to eat open 24/7 nearby in the services area. Parking anywhere on site was easy, just register the car at the screen by reception. Check-in was quick, and check-out even faster. Convenient, but expect the basics and some bathroom quirks.

The room was at least warm while we waited for our flight, but I didn’t sleep at all. There was a really unpleasant smell that we couldn’t work out, and the windows wouldn’t open to clear it. The room looked nothing like the photos, which made it feel like a prison cell. The lift stopped working at one point too. The airport location is handy, but the place felt very rough and sketchy. I felt incredibly unsafe staying there. I’ve never felt this unsafe in a hotel, and I can’t recommend it.

We chose it for an early flight from STN since it had free parking, a short drive, and a good price compared with hotels outside the airport. Check-in was prompt, we registered the car and got a key card. The family room was basic, as expected, and had an interconnecting door. It was also very hot, and we spotted long hair caught on a panel above the sink and another above the tea-making area that housekeeping had missed. After the children had been asleep for a while, people came into the room next door at 22:50, talking loudly and slamming the door. They opened the connecting door from their side, left for a bit, then came back making silly noises and singing. We knocked on the wall twice to ask them to keep it down because it was late, and they opened the connecting door again. It made me feel really uneasy. Between the heat, noisy corridors and neighbours, we slept badly. There’s no soundproofing. It was convenient for the airport, but we wouldn’t recommend it or stay there again.
