The cottage has a lovely museum-like style, and we liked that everything we needed was there. Its location is spot on, with gastropubs and cafes just a few metres away, and the Belfast bus stop is about a five-minute walk with excellent service. A couple of things may or may not bother you: parking is very hit and miss, even on weekdays, so we sometimes had to leave the car a few streets away. You can hear the road through the single-glazed windows. The Aga also makes the house uncomfortably warm at night, though I can imagine it being welcome in winter.

The Plough is right across the street, so getting breakfast, lunch, or dinner was no problem. The house itself is beautifully restored, with fantastic style, and it’s a cosy little place in a prime spot for seeing Hillsborough’s sights. A lovely base for visiting Belfast, too. It’s well equipped if you’d rather look after things yourself during your stay.

We had a superbly comfortable stay in this stunning self-catering cottage. Upstairs there’s a double room, a twin room, and a good-sized bathroom. Downstairs you’ll find the kitchen with its aga, a utility room, and the lounge. If you want a cosy, picture-perfect place, no.33 is well worth a look.
