The Island View Inn

The views are breathtaking, and breakfast was gorgeous. My daughter loved staying here too, and the hoteliers helped make the whole visit feel perfect. The rooms were spotless and modern, and the beds were so comfortable that I got a solid eight hours of sleep and didn’t want to get up. This was our second stay at the island view inn. Simon is an amazing person inside and out, warm and welcoming, and made us feel comfortable throughout. He also gave us great tips on places to visit. We’ll definitely be back very soon. The views are lovely and rural, and we found the inn a handy base for Lindesfarne, Bamburgh, Alnwick, Berwick and some very quiet nearby beaches. It’s right by the A1, but with the windows shut we barely heard traffic at night. This is a quaint, quirky country inn in a traditional cottage, with modern conveniences and a genuinely lovely family running it. The rooms had everything we expected, and the beds were the best we’ve had on a UK stay. The shower was good, though the water temperature fluctuated, which seems to come with the building. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The friendly, welcoming service and comfortable, cosy bar rounded out a wonderful stay. We’d come again. Thanks for making our weekend so enjoyable.

The A1 makes it an easy stopover, and it’s also well placed for Holy Island and other lovely spots nearby. There’s plenty of free parking. We always get a warm welcome, and the cosy rooms are clean and well serviced. Breakfast is excellent and there’s a good choice of evening meals. Great value too. We’ll definitely be back again.

Simon suggested somewhere to eat in Berwick town centre, just a few minutes’ drive away, and we had an amazing Italian meal there. After a lovely night in a room with fantastically comfortable beds, we woke to a delicious freshly cooked breakfast. I’m a notoriously bad sleeper, but managed a marvellous seven hours. We stayed at the Island View for one night while breaking our journey from down South to meet our son at Edinburgh Airport. As retired hoteliers, we know how hard it is to run a bed and breakfast or hotel. The real secret to the Island View’s success is its hosts, Simon and Sarah. Their personalities are made for this business. We’d return in a heartbeat. Well done, and we’re glad we met you.
