Most of the rooms seemed clean. Staff helpfulness and knowledge were mixed. On the first day they seemed willing to help, but didn’t actually do anything. Don’t count on the hotel internet. You might not be able to get terrestrial TV, and streaming channels are unlikely.

My daughter and her boyfriend were happy with the room and the rest of their birthday weekend stay, but she left a gift card in the room while they went out and it was gone when they returned. It had been left by the tea, coffee, and sugar tray. Staff first said they hadn’t touched the tray, but it had been restocked, so it clearly had been handled. My daughter was polite and asked if the hotel could offer a goodwill gesture. She got shrugs and a denial instead. That was very disappointing. We wouldn’t recommend staying here on that basis. Honesty matters when you’re paying for a service.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and getting into the room with a code instead of a key was really convenient. Breakfast was amazing, with a good range of English and continental options. My room was spotless and the bed comfortable. The hotel’s well placed near the city centre, just a short walk from New Street Station. Highly recommended.

I liked the environmental touches more than I expected, including the room entry code instead of a plastic card. Check-in was quick and easy, and I got a warm welcome. The recently refurbished room was airy, bright, and immaculately clean, with a properly sized desk facing a city view, a comfortable bed, and an awesome shower. I’d happily stay here again when I’m in Birmingham, thoroughly recommend it.
