Clayton Hotel Birmingham

My friend and I were really impressed. The hotel has lovely decor and very nice bedrooms, and the staff were lovely too. It’s ideally located within walking distance of the train station. We’d definitely stay again.

The staff were helpful and professional, and the facilities were clean. The restaurant and bar looked lovely. Breakfast was a tasty buffet with a good selection and plenty of options. Dessert was yummy too. We booked an executive room through Groupon with breakfast and dinner included. The room and bed both seemed small, with what looked like a double bed. I’d stayed at Clayton in Manchester and hoped for something similar in Birmingham, but that executive room was roomier and prettier. Dinner was awful, though. Because we’d paid for the inclusive deal, we had to choose from a different menu with only three options. I couldn’t eat my meal.

The location worked brilliantly for us, right across the road from the Bullring, especially since we had a big shopping trip planned. The staff were lovely and friendly, and breakfast was very nice. The room was lovely and clean, too. I brought my two children for a weekend stay for my daughter’s 15th birthday, and they absolutely loved it. I’ve stayed here a few times and never been disappointed. It was my son’s first visit, and now he wants to come back for his birthday in July. We’ll be back 😊

The room temperature was the main drawback. The heating seemed to be centralised, and there was no visible thermostat or separate heater, so I couldn’t warm the room myself. It often felt too cool. The shower pressure was also weaker than I expected for a hotel of this standard, even though hot water was reliably available. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The location is hard to beat, close to Moor Street Railway Station, Bullring and Grand Central, with Aston University and a large grocery store nearby. That makes it convenient for both work and leisure. Despite the temperature and shower issues, the comfort and location make Clayton Hotel Birmingham a good choice, and I’d happily return. Four out of five.
