Premier Inn Birmingham Central Hagley Road

The air con needed to be enabled by asking reception, then switched itself off partway through the night and left all four of us roasting. We were also woken at 10.30pm by a child running around in the room above. Reception promised that room would be empty the next night, but that wasn’t true, and the running and jumping were worse. We’d booked for two adults and two children, yet on arrival the room was set up for one adult, with just one towel and barely any toilet roll. At 7 in the evening, after a two-and-a-half-hour journey, staff asked us to leave the room so they could make the beds while we were trying to get the kids ready for bed. A shocking experience.

The staff were so welcoming and friendly, which made things even nicer. Breakfast was especially good and had plenty to enjoy. We waited a little for the hot food, but there was fruit, croissants, cornflakes, and coffee to keep us happily occupied until it arrived.

We’re here while our very poorly daughter is in hospital, and Owen and Nadia’s positive company meant a lot. The food was delicious too. They were helpful, enthusiastic, and couldn’t have done any more for us. They’re a credit to Premier Inn and deserve a lot of praise.

The young man at the desk was really helpful. My bed had dirty covers, so I asked for clean ones and got them. I couldn’t be bothered with a fuss. The chicken tikka masala meal came with rice and a poppadom, but there was no mango chutney or garlic and coriander flatbread, or naan. A nice young woman helped me, though I didn’t complain because she looked new. Breakfast was all hot, but it didn’t taste great. The breakfast staff also looked unhappy at work.
